FAQ - Call for Challenge Statements
1. What are the motivations driving OneMap IdeaWorks?
IdeaWorks has a special focus on people and communities. We aim to support community organisations through the adoption of geospatial solutions to better improve help to their beneficiaries. Concurrently, this provides tech participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their tech talents and abilities for altruistic objectives. Ultimately, we intend the outcome of IdeaWorks to bring various communities together for the betterment of people’s lives.
2. Who is eligible to contribute statements?
It is open to all organisations registered with the Registrar of Societies, academic institutes and public agencies. Individuals are also eligible to contribute.
3. How will the challenge statements be submitted?
All entries will be in English and must be submitted online at onemapideaworks.weebly.com/submit-challenge-statement-as-individual.html (for individual) or onemapideaworks.weebly.com/submit-challenge-statement-as-community-organisation.html (for organisation). No paper entries will be accepted.
4. When is the deadline for the submission of challenge statements?
We invite interested parties to submit the challenge statements starting 20 July 2017. The last day for the submission is by 11.59 p.m. on 02 Aug 2017.
5. Can participants submit multiple challenge statements?
Participants are welcome to submit multiple entries.
6. Who owns the Intellectual Property (IP) rights of the challenge statements?
Please see “Intellectual Property and Personal Data” in the Terms and Conditions.
7. How many challenge statements/community organisations are we expecting?
Thus far, over 20 community organisations have contributed 70 challenge statements and we hope to gather around 100 challenge statements.
8. How many challenge statements are we expecting to be selected for development?
We are reaching out to participants, students and open source communities to participate, and hoping that at least 50% of the challenge statements are selected for development.
9. How about challenge statements which are not selected?
Ideas may be taken up as this depending on its feasibility and selection is at the discretion of participants. Nevertheless, we would facilitate the take up of as many challenge statements as possible by participants. We hope individual tech participants would also step forward to co-create solutions with community organisations for a good cause.
10. How are challenge statements selected?
Selection is at the discretion of participants.
11. Will SLA sponsor and implement good challenge statements?
SLA will help to link up with other government agencies, beneficiaries’ institutions and partners if there are challenge statements which may be useful to them.
12. Which segments of the community are we targeting with IdeaWorks?
